Large type 31 snap on is 2 OD x 1 ID x 1.5 long, which is the same as their
solid assy, also 2x1x1.5

Normal solid 2x1x1.5 type 31 is

Large type 31 snap on is

Both the solid 2 x 1 x 1.5 and also the large snap it 2 x 1 x 1.5 have
IDENTICAL choking specs at at all freqs.

On a side note, 3 of the 2.4 x 1.4 x .5 cores... in a stack has LESS choking
Z than either of the 2 x 1 x 1.5 versions.
Not a lot, but the 2 x 1 x 1.5 versions are both 13.75 % more than 3 of the
2.4 OD cores.

2.4 x 1.4 x .5 type 31 is

As long as the large snap it is closed correctly, then either ty-rapped or
taped...or both, its all a moot point.

I didnt read the article, but obviously the large snap it, in type 31, could
be opened up, and several turns of
whatever, as long as it fits the smallish 1 ID hole..and closes, will work.

The 2.4 x 1.4 x .5 with its bigger 1.4 ID would take a connector. The even
bigger 4 x 3 x 1 type 31
 http://www.fair-rite.com/product/round-cable-emi-suppression-cores-2631814002/
   with its huge
3 inch ID would handle any connector, like 120 vac plugs etc you could stuff
several turns around it.
