As has been discussed extensively here, it's recommended that the surface of
concrete be kept moist during the cure time. That's a straightforward
proposition for the pier, but is it standard procedure to leave the anchor
holes open during the entire cure time so that the top surface can be kept
moist, or is it OK to fill them in after the concrete sets (say, after a
couple of days?) Wouldn't several feet of dirt act to keep the top surface
of the concete from drying out too quickly? What do the experts do?
