Hi Pete,

My 3 el 40m was also up many years. It came down when the boom to mast plate
failed. I found 1 snapped wire due to metal fatigue and many sheared off
rivets (not
due to the failed mast plate). When the plate failed the antenna came to
rest on the
Force12 5BA just below it.
What a mess.

In fact, I believe F12 in later years made the 40M single-band antennas
(called the Delta line) with coils in place of the linear loading.? That
said, I had one up at 104 feet for 15 years with the original alumoweld
wire, and zero issues
