I have one of those in the PVC pipe. It will get first use this weekend as
a test before taking on DXpedition. We are going to hang a dipole from the
top. The sections are friction fit, so will need additional holding power
to prevent collapse due to weight of wire and coax. I am planning to use
plastic tie wraps at each joint. They will be installed with a tool to make
them tight.

My opinion is that the mast from www.tmastco.com, also available from some
kite shops for holding up windsocks and ornaments, is the strongest.
He's also got a version that seems to be the same thing, but installed into
a piece of PVC pipe, which would be very rugged when carried telescoped.
