Tim,
I use an old Tube puller. Remember when TV's had tubes?
The puller is for hot tubes and the business end is rubber dipped. It works
great on close coax connectors and removing light bulbs from open bottom
outdoor fixtures.
If you can get to the sides of each connector, an automotive Valve retaining
long nose pliers works also. It is a duck billed long nose with cupped ends
and works on PL-239's pretty well.
