I think it's mainly done to minimize bandwidth usage, i.e., so that
ten different people don't post the same response. They rely on the
recipient to summarize and post the responses as you did. You can
protect the privacy of the responders and still acknowledge them by
simply listing their callsigns at the bottom of your post.
