I've made lots of delta loops with the multi-stranded insulated copper wire I found at a hamfest about ten years ago for a penny per foot. The insulation stops corrosion, the fine multi-wire stops it from tangling when you put it up, and the insulation has the effect of making longer electrically by a few feet.
