Your last idea is the best.  You have to have the tower
behind the Yagi and have the feed coax exit off the back
of the boom.  You have to mount it by attaching the back
of the boom to the tower, which doesn't require any insulated
pieces.  I can't imagine what KLM was thinking when
they said to mount it to an insulated mast, unless they
were thinking the top of the tower.  In that case, you
still have to bring the coax off the back of the boom.
If you tape the coax to the mast, you defeat the purpose
of an insulated mast.  Unless maybe you load up the coax
with ferrite beads.  The mast on the top of the tower needs
to raise the Yagi sufficiently high above the tower to
prevent interaction with it.  I'm not sure how high this is.
Again, your last idea is the best.
