Gus,

I'd be a little wary of these antennas.  I, too, picked up several at a
bargain price, and, after testing them, found that they had breaks in the coil
that is wound on the inside of the fiberglass.  Apparently, they were designed
for the low power radios that they were used with, these radios put out only
20 watts or so.

Before trying any on-the-air tests, run a continuity check from end to end.
That could save you some time and frustration.  Be a little careful applying
power also.

BTW, the whip top sections are great for base loaded mobile antennas.
