If I were doing anything serious at VHF/UHF, I'd be using hard line. With a QTH on the wrong side of the ridge, I don't do anything serious above 6M. There, I operate nearly all WSJT modes legal limit, and run 7/8-in hard line. (There's virtually no CW or SSB on 6M in NorCal). I do have a couple of first quality type-N connectors in the run for the rotator loop and on a jumper to the UHF connector on the entry arrestor panel, and a UHF jumper inside the shack to the KPA1500.

And FM is significantly more demanding than FM with respect to power handling.
