Hi Don,

I have the fourth edition (1983) of the RSGB VHF/UHF Manual which I bought in the 80s. It was and despite being dated, remains one of my favorite books. I wish I had all the other editions of it, but sadly this is the only one I have. It shows some wear from frequent use!

I first got on VHF weak signal (144 MHz) in 1986.

Morning Paul,

I have several RSGB books picked up while stationed in Europe in the mid-1980's and later through work visits that I still reread occasionally.  I have a job that often requires me to participate in things that are "PED 0" (no personal electronic devices allowed) and carrying hard copy books are very convenient for "down time".  One of my favorites in the mid-1990's VHF-UHF DX Book which has lots of good, if dated information.  In fact the 2017 digital version of that book even states:

"As with all older books, the challenge for the reader is to separate the parts that are of lasting value from other parts that have become dated. But we make no apology for the latter; they remain an accurate snapshot of VHF/UHF DXing in its heyday."

And I am old enough to remember some of the times they discussed.
