This was the first contest I used the TS-60 and front-end overload was
severe. I have a neighbor (1 mile) on 6m. Whenever he transmitted, my
radio desensed and the AGC took a long time to recover. Changing to
'fast AGC' helped a little. Mostly I had to wait until he stopped before
I could work anyone. Conversely, his Icom 756 Pro had no trouble with my
radio. Both are 100 watts on Six.
Hams 3-5 miles away will affect it also, but I could still work other
stations. The one mile station blanked my radio over 80kc away.
I have an Icom 551 that was retired when I got the TS-60. Should I bring
the Icom back and sell the Kenwood? The memory features and 100 watts
were the main features, as well as being a single-band radio. The Icom
is aging and has quirks.
