I have 847 857 and 817 and all are dramatically better in crowded band
conditions with the collins mechanical filters installed. In my opinion
the filters are worth the money and all the rigs hear well on 6, 2, and
uhf. Digital rigs like the ic7000 IC7100 etc don't use filters. You will
need to learn how to optimize your receivers digital front end.
