Yo,
Sounds like a bunch of old ladies on the reflector rather than
operators trying to advance the art.
People were complaining about the validity of contacts for the FFMA
program. Son of a Gun..!!- Somebody starts doing something
by starting to require some proofs and now people's integrities are being
questioned by submitting some kind of proof of where they went?
Get over yourselves. This is not about you, it is about attempting to
make sure that the program has some minimal standards so that
the award means something.
The ARRL learned a painful Don Miller lesson years ago and changed
their attitudes and requirements regarding the HF awards. People
do HF trips whose costs dwarf VHF trip costs and want to make sure the
correct documentation is sent in. They don't see that as having their
integrity impugned. They see that as part of a legitimate part of putting
on a successful DXpedition. VHF operators should be considered differently?
I don't think so, because this is about standards being started where none
existed before....not about suddenly doubting good VHF Ops who are honorable
people.
73 and I remain,
Lew W7EW
