So exactly how are you sending the FSK signal to the 990? If you're using
WL and the rig both in FSK mode, you should be sending the TxD pin of the
com port to the RTTY SHIFT pin of the RTTY connector on the back. If you're
using a TNC, you will be sending the FSK signal from that unit to the RTTY
SHIFT pin. If you're doing that, and the rig is in RTTY mode, and you're
also keying PTT, then you should have idle diddles. If the rig is going
into transmit but there is no signal output, then you must have something
wrong in the FSK keying chain - WL not set to FSK, not keying right pins,
etc. Also, are you using WriteLog alone for FSK, or are you using something
like MMTTY in conjunction with WL? If using MMTTY or other program, it must
also be correctly set to FSK.
It sounds like you've done this with the Omni and are looking for specific
990 considerations. However, it should be straightforward. The 990 has the
same pins for the RTTY and PACKET connectors as the FT-1000 and 1000MP, with
FSK shift input via the RTTY cocnnector. If you're wired correctly, it must
