K0CKB pointed me to this idea. She is also involved in
sewing machines (which use foot switches). Those folks
have something ready made to solve the problem of the
"lost foot switch". It's called a "Pedal-Sta II" and
is a peice of heavy plastic, about 12" x 18", the stuff
they make carpet protectors out of for office chairs.
Embedded in the top side of the plastic is a 9" x 9"
section of "loop" side of "hook and loop" Velcro. Included
is a generous sticky-backed peice of the "hook" Velcro
which you put on the bottom of your foot switch (mine
is a Heil switch, but I have seen similar switches sold
in the power tool section of Sears for foot control of
shop power tools.
It's a great arrangement, and I've been using it for
years.
