"Jane, stop this crazy thing"
Yes, you can't afford to think about a call without typing anything. This
gets worse when you get tired. Making the CQ message longer the second day
helps. (I will send my call twice) . If you are using the automated
headphone switching, when you get out of synch and the headphones split,
sometimes you can't tell what radio the caller was on.
Yes, the red box needs to be disabled for dual runmode. The stop aligns
windows should be on. If you have to stop the automation, it leaves you in
a usable state. The Hold on first character should be off. This is for
SSB. I would recommend making your call atomic. This makes the timing
worse, but is more polite.
In real life, the WPX is the hardest with all the repeats. You can have two
QSOs in progress, both asking for repeats on both ends. It is cool when you
have a new mult in both windows. It is not as cool when you have a dupe in
both windows.
Have fun - will be thinking about you guys wishing I could get on

Thanks.
Turning off S&P stations helped a lot. Turning off the red box made it more
realistic.
Hardest thing about 2BSIQ is that the automation never stops. You have to
get a call and start typing it in or the window focus changes and you get
all messed up.
Hoping I won't sound like too much of a lid this weekend in WPX CW.

Hi Randy
As I understand it, the simulator will have a set number of callers over a
certain period of time. If you work stations efficiently at the beginning,
the number of new callers will decline and some CQ's will go unanswered. I
have never seen the callers stop for a long period of time, but similar
behavior was recently reported here. It is possible that an issue has come
up. Wayne added the ability to make the call sign atomic (it will not
terminate a CQ message in the middle of sending a callsign) . This required
a new simulator release but I do not recall if it required a new runmode
module. It may be worth being sure you have the latest version of each
The number of callers is controlled by the "Search and Pounce stations"
entry on the settings menu. A number like 3 or 4 should generate sustained
activity without chaos. The CQ stations should be zero. This setting is
used to specify how many CQing stations there will be as you tune the band.
If this is not 0, you may get a station cqing on your run frequency.
Make sure you did not inadvertently put both radios on the same band.
Also, make sure that you do not have any characters in the entry window,
this will stop that radio from CQing. If you delete all the characters in
the entry window, it will resume CQing after about 5 seconds. You need to
map a key to External: Clear to resume CQing right away
Also, if you do !t, what is the repeat interval? This value has a number of
side effects in dual runmode.
I should add that I usually run in "simple" contest mode. Maybe there is
something with the other contests that I have not seen

I started playing with the simulator this evening. It is an amazing piece
of programming work and would be helpful for anyone wanting to get warmed up
before a contest.
I am trying to practice for 2BSIQ mode (alternating CQ/running on two
bands). It doesn't always give two continuous streams of callers. I seem
to work one on radio 1 with nothing on radio 2, and then vice versa. Not
sure if my QSL message is not right, but it is like the simulator doesn't
know I finished a QSO (or know that I am ready for the next one).
After about 15 minutes of running, I stopped having any new callers. The
automation is doing the alternate CQs, but no one calls me. Did I run out
of people to work, or did something break?
I stopped dual CQ and just called CQ on one radio. Still no answers. If I
tune around, I can hear other sims calling CQ.
It's almost like there is a time limit or a QSO limit on the simulator.

Ken
In the "RunMode settings" window you need to check "Dynamic Headphone
split." It will put both headphones on the radio not transmitting and split
them if neither is transmitting.
To get the settings window to open, you need to create a keyboard shortcut
for "External: Setup" just like what you need to start and stop

Hi Gang - struggling a bit and thought I would throw this out on the
reflector.
I'm trying to get SO2R working with the simulator, using the headphone latch
(CTRL X) function. I've used it for years during real contests.
On the simulator, I have each radio working independently, able to run on
either radio. When I engage CTRL X for latch, I continue to get sidetone
from the run radio. I don't hear the S&P radio when the run radio is
transmitting for example. It doesn't matter which of the two radios I'm
using for run or S&P.
CW Keyer type and SO2R Control are set for WinKey+ORSTP Pipes.
What am I missing?
