Marty, Ric, et al,
The interesting thing about this silly card Sound Board PCI128 is -
When you go to the PLAYBACK set of controls you see that WriteLog is
controlling the Mic and it is muted. But the Aux In (which is the only Line
In channel) is not muted. So you manually mute Aux In - the feedback goes
away. But the Aux In on the RECORD side is also muted and I have no RTTY
decode from the sound card. Now I guess all that would be ok if WriteLog
would just mute the Aux In on transmit and unmute it on receive - just like
happens on voice with Mic and Wave). But WriteLog does not care to touch
the Aux In even thou I have set the IndexOverride parameter in the ini file.
The setup does run OK when I have all sound card volumes at full. My only
concern is that the ALC indicator on the FT1000MP is showing about twice
where it should and I am worried about distortion and a broad signal etc.
That is why I started to adjust the sound board volume controls and
discovered this sort of brain dead behavior.
Maybe it is time to use FSK for RTTY instead of AFSK. Or get a new smarter
sound card.?
