The ICOM radios do not provide the capability to read the status of
split and/or dualwatch. You can set either, but you have no way to
determine what mode it is in, thus when issuing a spot you have to hand
edit the split or risk sending it wrong.
It's a serious weakness in my opinion, one not shared by other brands.

Subject: [WriteLog] Radio info - MAYDAY!!!
Just got an email from AES yesterday listing several Icom HF rigs with
special pricing through this weekend. I've been seriously pondering the
IC-7600 and the special offer is tipping the scale. Not to mention the fact
that the XYL said I should go ahead and order what I want!!! Not sure what
that's going to cost me down the road, but I'll chance it!
So this question is for anyone with an IC-7600 who uses DXBase2006 and or
WriteLog. What do you use for a radio interface in these programs. I see
DXBase2006 has drivers for the IC-756ProIII and the IC-7800, but not the
IC-7700 nor the IC-7600. What radio interface do you use instead?
Similarly WriteLog has radio interfaces for the IC-756PRO3, IC-7700 and
IC-7800, but not the IC-7600. Again, is there a radio driver "close enough"
that will work with the IC-7600 with some ini file mods?
The sale only goes through Monday so I need to to decide quickly whether or
not to make the leap. Also before the XYL changes her mind!

Gary AL9A
