I'm setting up WL for the NA Sprints on Sat. and have run into problem I
don't understand with my audio files. In certain call signs a letter in the
call generates an error message that says" .wav format incompatible with
earlier files." For example, if I enter W1AW and then use %C to play back
the call, WL plays "W1" (w1.wav) and then displays the error message for the
a.wav file. W7WA plays back "W7" (w7.wav) and then the error message for
w.wav. I never had this problem on my old XP machine, but have now copied
these audio files over to my new Vista machine. The screwing thing is
sometimes these .wav files that generate the error message will work ok in
another call.
What really confuses me is that I used Audacity to create all the audio
files, so I don't see why WL says there is a file format incompatibility
problem. Does anyone know of a way to check the file formats? I know they
all have to be the same. Under XP the Audio Recorder would let you check
File/Properties to see what the format was. Under Vista, the Audio Recorder
is a much more bare bones interface that doesn't offer this capability,
unless I'm missing something. I could probably use the audio files as is
and get by for the contest, but would like to fix it if possible. I would
hope I wouldn't have to recreate all the files all over again!
