[WriteLog] Windows 7 audio delay

I am upgrading to Windows 7 and have run into audio delay when running mic
audio through a soundcard (both internal and a couple of generic USB
adapters)

This was the only thread I could find on the topic:

Has anyone come up with a software solution in the last two years?  If not,
any advice on what USB sound cards give acceptable performance?
