[WriteLog] Followup to Makrothen bug

At the suggestion of Steve, N9OH, I checked for the bug in other
contests and found it is indeed there, too.  Sorry about that, Steve, I
had only noticed it in the Makrothen module and assumed the problem lay
therein, but it now seems to be in WriteLog itself.

Anyway, we still need to be aware of it and how to work around it.
