IMHO the additional BPF and TCXO in the FT-1000D aren't worth the expense.
The basic FT-1000 with additional 455KHz filters for 2.4KHz and 500Hz is a
versatile all-arounder. If your into phone or CW contesting then the 2.0KHz
or 250Hz filters should be considered. When used with the 250Hz filters and
the 600Hz sub-receiver filter the FT-1000 is an exceptional CW contest
machine, outstanding on 80 and 160. These are with the Yaesu filters. The
Inrad units should be similar or even better. If you buy a used radio make
sure it's been brought up to date recently and has the version 6.0 or later
operating system ROM installed. There have been many factory updates to the
FT-1000. W8KX
