Or, you could try the program that I developed and use with my FT1000MP
Mark V, and it's free. I don't know if the CAT commands for the
straight MP and the Mark V are the same, but it costs you nothing to try
it. The program does these things:
1. Provides concurrent access for up to three applications to the Mark V
CAT port. The applications access a virtual transceiver and there can
be no interference between them.
2. The program simulates an Elecraft K2 for the three application
ports. In other words, the applications think they're talking to a real
K2 and the commands/responses are translated for the FT1000MP Mk V. The
reason for this? Some of the best software doesn't support the old
Yaesu CAT command sets. NaP3, for example, is one of the very best
panadaptor programs but doesn't support the Mk V but supports the K2
quite well.
3. The program includes a visual display of the current IF filters in
use and allows selection of any combination of filters for any mode.
Function is similar to the old MPFilters program by K6SE (SK).
4. Displays VFO-A and VFO-B along with the mode for both.
5. Has indicators showing activity on each of the four com ports used
and VFO-A S-meter activity
6. Displays current UTC time.
7. Displays current CPU utilization for all active tasks
I use this program daily with NaP3, DXLab and WSJT-X and for contests I
use N1MM (concurrently with DXLab). WSJT-X users note: with this
program you can run the MP Mk V in true split mode which WSJT-X does not
support for the Mk V but remember WSJT-X is seeing a K2 in this case.
Only those K2 commands used by NaP3, DXLab, WSJT-X and N1MM are
supported. No attempt is made to fully simulate the K2 and all its
arcane CAT commands. The program runs on my 64 bit Windows 10 machine
and has not been run or tested on a 32 bit machine.
What the program does NOT do:
1. Provide virtual COM ports. You use the program of your choice to
establish the ports and my program doesn't know the difference between a
real and a virtual port.
If you're interested in trying it, you can find it here along with
documentation: www.k8ac.net/MarkV.html
If you try it and have a problem, email me at k8ac@k8ac.net and we'll
work it out.

Hi all,
? I have my FT-1000mp CAT plugged into COM1 and have been trying to
share it between WSJT/VQLog or WSJT/N1MM. I've tried several expensive
port splitter programs with fee trails and it doesn't work. I sometimes
can get one of the programs to work but no the other. What are others
using out there on ancient 4800 baud?
thanks,

Jay,
You should be looking at the forums of the software programs you are using.
That you use an older TRX does not matter for the port splitter.
You might wat to use DXLab commander. It is supported by wsjtx and
provides a 2nd CAT port.

"Splitting" the CAT port on older Yaesu transceivers (prior to the
FTdx9000/FT-2000) is not likely to work because of the "binary"
nature of the original Yaesu CAT protocol. The original protocol
has no identifying information to tell the various software what
command ("poll") the information is responding to and because of
that the various software becomes hopelessly confused.
The *only* possible way one can split the "old" Yaesu rigs is if
all the software involved supports a rig proxy driver like OmniRig
which handles all communications with the rig and respond to each
application directly. To the best of my knowledge (from searching
the respective web site/help file), neither N1MM Logger+ nor VQLog
will work with OmniRig.
