I have used a non optical scheme at 9KV for a twt power supply. The hv is fed through a 100 ohm resistor, 100w in my case. The current through the resistor is about 500 mA so the voltage drop is 50v.

Hi Guys, I plan to purchase a tube-type Auto-tune amp and am most interested in an Alpha 9500 or an Acom 2000A. I'd prefer solid-state, but I want a 1.5kw continuous duty rating at a reasonable price

If a voltage change is needed, a buck transformer (in the primary) won't waste power. A resistor will. Use a transformer w/ a secondary current rating AT LEAST as great as the amplifier's maximum cur

I suggest NO diodes or resistors in the LV side of the xfmr. A buck transformer in the primary loses or looses [sic] the least power. The secondary needs to handle the amplifier's primary current. A
