I've got to stress that I've no experience of lightning problems, but I wonder whether a ground rod really contributes much. A 4' rod here measures around 200 ohms, a couple of shallow 30' wires clos

If it is using 8 x 100W transistors, then 500W broadband output is about right - 3-400W if you want anything approaching good linearity. Some versions of amps like this have a 100A meter on the panel

I wonder if that's likely to have blown the meter. The meter fsd is 30uA, the extra power will probably result in a current about twice that - I can't imagine 60uA burning a meter movement out. Maybe

Is it 9028 or 9082? I have a couple of 9081/9082 - used as door stops mainly. They're ok as sources for single tone amplifer testing and for testing commercial FM radio kit, otherwise they're awful.

I think it won't be long until 36V is commonplace - won't fix the problem of alternator size for the power, but will make the wiring easier. Steve _______________________________________________ Amps

If the rack isn't specifically designed for rf purposes, you can't rely on the rf screening properties. Many have fully painted panels, and rely on wired connections for electrical safety only. The r
