same here - 3-400Z idle on SSB mode causes them to get dull orangish. Sometimes I wish I had some of the new 3-500Z graphite jobs but the fan just isn't up to snuff to keep them alive. 73 Jason N1SU

Must be the ZSAC - on my L4 on SSB position there is about 200mA, on CW position around 150mA. And i'm thinking the thickness of the plate material must be considerably more thin in the old Eimac 3-

I'm sure that's 99% of it. Although my old Amperex 8163s will get orange as well, it just takes them longer which is why I guessed at it being a thicker material. And likewise it takes quite a while
