Hi Chaz, Well, I think it is possible. It has been done, there are pleanty of good designs that are available. I sugest that you might read the ALS-500 manual, it says in the first paragraph that it

Yes, I agree, the ALS600 would be better, I'm not advocating for the 500, what I was really trying to get at was there are good and viable options already available. I was thinking the requirements w

Hi Chaz, Yea, you can buy a lot of inverter for $250, but you won't get far with it. I have a 3000 watt inverter in my boat, works great, runs the electric range top, micrawave, and my wifes' hairdry

Hi Chas, Even removing the 160 meter requirement, it would make the ss easier, but still the $1/w unattainable in either ss or tube. Like Tom said, the filter board is really going to add up in price

I was thinking along similar lines, The AM3924, it's portable if you have an 18 wheeler ;) but i't one heck of a PA, two 4cx1500's in it, it can easily put out 3 KW++ if it had a better power supply.

Hi Marv, When I saw your post, I also thought of using class E as well, since you have to restore anyway. More efficiency = smaller heatsinks, smaller powersupply, less expensive parts. But my guess

Keep in mind that with the new Rohs (lead free) and other directives being initiated, many more parts have been discontinued or are only available in a different package. ____________________________

Hi Don, I imagine that the remote coax switch relay would work just fine, probably two spst per filter bank as long as it can handle legal limit slightly above 50Mhz with acceptable swr. Paul _______
