I think this tube has a slightly different filament voltage?  5.5v versus 5v?  I seem to remember this from somewhere in my fading memory (too much RF??).  I could be wrong. Clearly it works anyway.

I'd echo this sentiment.  You've got a good, tried and tested amp with robust tubes.  Why spend the time and money (and run barefoot whilst you're working on it) simply for a lower drive requirement?
