You must have a means of measuring avalanche voltage at c. 2uA. In other words, yu need a high-pot tester. . Diodes are typically graded into drawers marked >800v, >900v, >1000v, >1100v, on and on.

You can't get an AB1 triode to turn on hard at zero grid-volts unless it has a Mu of more than 4 or so. AB1 triodes are problematic at frequencies over a few hundred kHz. - later, Peter Rich... R. L
