My 3K-A threw a shoe like that once -- the output dropped and got very distorted. A quick look inside revealed only one lit tube, so I cleaned up the contacts in the socket and it has been fine since

I believe the RF Parts ZGs are fairly close the Eimac drive requirments -- I think the Amperex tubes needed more drive. I used the RF Parts tubes in my 922 and they worked very well. I had it running
