Sorry for the "QRP" amps question! (driver stage... :-) I think I know what is going on here, but would appreciate comments. I have a small VHF amp employing an 8560A tube. I have a box of used and N

Are you sure the relay is not being "hot switched" ? I use RJ1 relays in two of my amps, with RG-142B/U connected directly to the relay terminals. Both amps have many hours with no relay failures and

Hi again Felipe, If it lasted that long the first time, it probably is not a hot switching issue... I guess. :) The way I check for that is with a dual channel scope. One channel looks at RF from the

This isn't in any of the Handbooks I happen to own. I tried looking on LDG's web site but found no autotuner without a box. Maybe it is a special order item? Does anyone have more info on this? I am

Thanks everyone for the replies and information! It seems I didn't look closely enough at the discontinued products. The W4RT AT-100PRO with AT-100AMP CPU looks attractive. It won't fit in the box (n

That works fine except I have a habit of using it with a couple of "not quite perfect" antennas when operating barefoot, which messes up its band memories for the amp input. Then I forget to push the

I once built a successful 160-10m amp around a 4CX1000A with no socket at all. OK, it took 10 minutes to change out the tube, but you rarely if ever have to replace one. I ran a single 4CX1000A at le

The band switching scheme never arced and worked fine except for being a little confusing at 0200 local time! As I recall it was A (tune) and A (load) for 40, A+B and B for 80, A+B+C and A+C for 160.
