My experience is different. I have a very early AL 1200 (serial # 089) that I purchased in 1985. I have used it in many SSB, CW, and RTTY contests. It still puts out as much power as the day I got it

I do not have any experience with newer Ameritron amplifiers; however I have two older Ameritron AL-1200's. The first one I got directly from the factory almost 30 years ago is serial number 089. The
