That guy chose the wrong tube for his operating style...had he chosen 3-500Z, 3-1000Z, oe 4-1000A, he would still most likely be on his original set. My comments were strictly limited to the SB-220.

Why don't you just add the Ameritron QSK-5 QSK box? It is the same circuit that has been around a long time, (Heath, Vectronics,et al) and is much faster than a vacuum relay. You will enjoy this box
