I am looking for a 5-10 uA moving coil instrument for use in my new HI-POT tester. New or secondhand is OK as long as it is in OK working condition. I need this instrument for testing HV diode string
I have a secondhand Henry 3KD premier on hand that I consider acquiring. The amp is the version with the Eimac 3CX1200D7 tube. Questions: what is the availability of the Eimac 3CX1200D7 tube and what
Thanks for the info regarding the 3CX1200D7. From the mails I have received and the postings on this reflector, it looks like this is a very expensive tube. I can get 6 pcs. NOS GS35B tubes for one s
For a project I am looking for a good YC-156 pull and a suitable chimney. Contact me if you have something to sell. LB3HC _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contes
Hi experts! I have hipot tested a 1000pF UR4LL vacuum capacitor today. It did clunk a couple of times at approx 4 kV and then it settled down. The it clunked a couple times at 8 kV and settled down.
I have posted a video that I captured during Hi-pot testing a transmitting variable capacitor. Note that the instrument scale is 0,5. 20 on the meter is 4 kv. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.co
Looks like mine behaves similar to your number 4. Several sources state that the clunks are OK to get rid of impurities as long as there is not too many clunks heard. Another cap of similar type, how
I just hipot tested my recently acquired YC-176 vacuum tube that is intended for a possible future project. It leaks less than 15uA at 16KV A to G. I have not yet applied heater current as there is n

I am looking for a good Eimac SK-306 chimney for a YC-179 project. Contact me if you have a unit in good shape for sale. Will pay via PayPal. LB3HC _______________________________________________ Amp
Hi George. I didn't test breakdown between G-C so far. In a grounded grid setup with a tube like this, my understanding is that an A-G arc is the most likely. The grid is a circular cage surrounding
I have posted a LTspice (Spice) simulation file that I have used to investigate the operation and energy dissipation in: a B+ glitch resistor, B+ series HV-fuse, main contactor shut off, B+ crowbar s
Hi Colin. Thanks for posting. I took a look at that Hi-Pot tester. That unit is not suitable for testing vacuum capacitors nor most high power vacuum tubes according to my view. The reason is that th
There are several ways to look at how much a grid can take. The energy perspective is the best I think. Current x voltage x time = energy. Or joules = watts x seconds. An Eimac engineering bulletin s
