[Steve Katz] The advantage of 4CX350Fs is that they're often found new surplus very inexpensively. I've used them for many years, can't tell any difference in operation between the 350F and a 250B,

I don't believe a 1 kg power supply using a 6x multiplier at 50 Hz or 60 Hz is possible, at the current level required. Unless someone invents nearly zero-mass large-value capacitors required by the

John, and especially Rich (AG6K), I did look up the formula for voltage multiplier regulation and ripple and a 6x multiplier used to provide 500mA when driven by a 60 Hz source is an impossibility. V

Vic, I think he meant SB230. It's about same size as SB200 but lighter and used a single conduction-cooled tube (8873 I think-?) with internal AC PS. -WB2WIK/6 "If everything seems under control, you

Hi Dudley, The DTR-2000 used a voltage tripler? I don't recall that...do you have a schematic? It's certainly an unusual application for a 1A supply. Of course I am aware that many amps use doublers;

You're correct, Dennis. Whoever posted yesterday that the DTR-2000L amplifier uses a voltage tripler was wrong. The schematic clearly shows a voltage doubler made of twelve 1kV 3A diodes and twelve 1

[Steve Katz] I don't doubt that at all, Bill. Well, I don't have a DTR-2000L to look at, and am only going by the schematic diagram, which shows 6 diodes and 6 capacitors in each leg of the doubler.

Paul, my guess is that the "only" problem is the switch, and once you replace it, all will be well. That switch is stressed pretty hard at 230V: It's about 12A flowing through the switch and just a m
