That's interesting ... when I used them in the 60's they were rated for 10 KVDC, and that was the mated spec. Perhaps the 5 KV rating is for an unmated connector, or maybe it's due to global warming
The insulation on the MHV plug extends beyond the bayonet mount making it extremely difficult, if not impossible to mate with a BNC. I used them extensively at voltages above 5 KV when I was at MIT.
Note that they spec them as Mated and Un-Mated !! They look a lot like the old Amphenol MHV series, but I would need to see them before I would say they are. 73, Dick, W1KSZ _________________________
The AL-1200 has a simple Soft-Start circuit, one resistor and a relay. Download the manual from the MFJ site and see how simple it is. 73, Dick, W1KSZ _______________________________________________
Then there's the TR-4CW that just sold for $835 !! and without the speaker or power supply. I should have kept the one I bought for $125 some years ago. 73, Dick, W1KSZ ______________________________
Back in my days at MIT (in the 60's) I built a Laser Discharge Power Supply that had about 240 mfd @ 8 KV. They were discharged through a Pulse Forming Inductor made of a coil of #12 wire. The output
They are the same Toyota folks who said nothing is wrong with their cars ?? I remember helping a friend install a 2 Meter FM Radio in his VW. I had to move the antenna around the vehicle until I foun
And they say Hams are nuts !!! With enough RF floating around to mess up his camera, I can just imagine the effects on soft tissue. Can you spell Gioblastoma ?? 73, Dick, W1KSZ ______________________

Let's see ... they (PayPal) have your Name, Address & Phone Number. If you link your account to a Bank Account, they have a routing number. Now they want your SSN !!! As a philosophical old drunk onc
Good idea, I'll give them a try if and when the tube in my AL-1200 croaks. But, after almost 20 years of use, it shows no signs of slowing down !! The thing may outlive me. 73, Dick, W1KSZ __________

You may think it's "voodoo" on HF, but on 6 Meters it's more like "Alchemy" !! But, at least on my SB-220 Conversion, the ones I made are still holding of the evil humors of oscillation. 73, Dick, W1
I don't recognize the third sentence as anything I wrote. Is someone added words to my e-mail ?? Shame on you. I won't comment on the reply ... 73, Dick, W1KSZ _______________________________________
Nice amp, only 700 watts on 6 though. I get more than that from a modified SB-220 that cost one boatload less cash than that one. 73, Dick, W1KSZ _______________________________________________ Amps
