2) CAn anyone see any sort of reason to have the loading capacitor physically right next to and parallel with the final output tube(s). Would this induce some sort of neutralization, etc...??? Thanks

I not being a relay expert either, I wonder if the slow brake is due to some sort of residual "permanent" magnetism on the core of the relay??? Maybe just a demagnetizing might help the problem??? Ph

Tony, I guess I'm biased cause I've got the AL-1200 but I feel its' got a lot of bang for the buck. As you probably know you can't kill the tube so knowing the replacement cost is practically moot. C

I checked my voltage at the outlet for my amp. and it measured 235 volts. This was measured with a B&K 20k ohm voltmeter. Factory setting for the AL-1200 filament xfmr line voltage is setup for 245v.

Thank you all for FIlament voltage reply. Now I'm baffled. I just removed and replaced all million screws on the amp, after changing the fan tap to the slowest speed, didn't touch anything else! Fan
