Thanks to all the postings and especially the private email concerning my questions on the AL-811H. I did wire it for 240 and have noticed an increase in PEP power. 600 - 800 watt range now. Thanks d

Yes, always better to run a amp on 240. Why pull a lot of current on 120 when you do not have to. 73, Ken, KA0W increase -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/FAQ/amps Submissions: amps@contesting

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the input about the MLA-2500 and the 811h, I think I'm gonna go with the 811H. Here's another question to which I THINK I know the answer. Will putting 572B tubes (and May

Daniel, It might handle them on SSB only, no CW or AM. Also, I would think the tank would have to be matched to the tubes, not sure because the plate resistance will change. Will ** REPLY SEPARATOR *

I want to recall that the power supply in the 811H does not have enough output to make much difference in power out when 572 B's are used. However.. if you do install 572's, they will last almost for

The 572B's will work fine - but - without increasing the anode voltage you likely won't get anymore output - just the satisfaction of knowing that you have lots more plate dissipation for an extra ma

Is it Don or Dan?? Anyway, when it comes to the question of 811A's or 572B's , if you have an amp such as the 811, or 811H, or any amp for that matter , that uses 811A tubes, if you happen to have so

Charles,   Did you check the grid resistors?  I have an AL-811H that did the self destruct thing and it took out a couple of the grid resistor along with a couple of tubes.  I posted this, but didn't

On the 3830 contest reflector someone posted a comment that "The AL-811H has a know problem of the parasictic chokes burning up on 10 meters." Is that a true fact on those amps? 73 Tom W7WHY ________

I havent had any H's come thru here that werent neutralized but extended tuning does cook the suppressors on 10M. I tear out that stuff and wrap the original coil around one of a pair of 100 Ohm Ohmi

I use a set of JAN 811 tubes that I picked up from Surplussales. Also a ham friend of mine used his Greenlee punches to cut a whole in the side for a fan to blow across the tubes and keep them cooler
