I unpacked a recently acquired SB-220 today and fired it up prior to rebuilding for 6M. All seemed to go well and power was 1KW out on 10M. After awhile my nose told me something was wrong. Turns out

In a SB-220, during intermittent push-push parasitic oscillations at c.110MHz, lateral mechanical stress is applied to the 3-500Z's hot tungsten filament (1800 degrees K). This stress is due to the

Thanks for the info. That is still an 85C cap and is identical to the CDE 380LX seies available for $8.93 from Mouser. A better choice is the 105C 381LX (Mouser # 5985-450V330) and $10.69 in 10 qty.

The Heath chokes are #30 wire Rich, at least all the ones I have checked here. I just dont like that resistor idea since it adds all those extra 1000pf caps into the equation. If you want a resistor,

As I recall, #30 copper wire has a fusing current rating of around 8A. So check it with a dipmeter. The difference in grid resonant frequency between the original 600pF and 1600PF is quite small. Be
