What is the "correct" way to check a Plate Choke for resonance with a MFJ-259B antenna analyzer? Do you leave it in the amp or take it out, etc.? 73, Bill == Bill Smith KO4NR -- FAQ on WWW: http://ww

According to Mr. Tom Rauch, the MFJ analyzer's dipmeter option does not work properly. A dipmeter might be better. I test HV-RFCs for resonances, not shorted, wired in place, using a dipmeter. cheer

I assume you have the plug-in "Duckie" that converts your 259 into a GDO. The choke is tested in place, with a shorting strap across the two terminals. If the choke has over 150 uh or so of L, there

How about connecting the 259 directly to the output side of the blocking cap (with the PI network disconnected)? If the choke is self-resonant, I would expect the shunt impedance seen by the 259 to d

The plate choke resonances depends by its inductance and windings capacitance, but stray capacitance also play a significant role. In other words the same plate choke inside different amplifier can r

Leave it in the final position with the bottom connected, and disconnect the top from the circuit and test it at that point using short leads to the 259B. Be sure to set the tank circuit to various
