Henry radio runs the filaments in their amplifiers with the filaments in series. There is no center tap on their filament transformers. They use a small choke hooked to the "center" of the 2 tubes. T

If you nean to HV negative, ok. You can also construct a 5v/60Hz center-tap choke/auto-trans on a high-mu ferrite core. It does double duty by carrying the cathode current to HV neg. - later, Roy. -

Hi Larry, Why would you want 4 x 3-500Zs? Two will do max legal power nicely... 73, DX, de Pat, AA6EG/N6IJ; aa6eg@hh.tmx.com;n6ij@hotmail.com 599 DX Drive, Marina CA 93933 See us on the web: www.polk

Hi Pat, The answer to your question is Economics. Running legal power with 4 tubes rather than 2, means you would probably never need to buy replacement tubes. 4 tubes should give a lifetime of servi

Sure, two of the 3-500Zs will produce legal power. Under normal cndx never you'll need any signal amplfication. I'm interested on technics, experiments, constructions and homebrewing. I guess that is

Well, Pat, I don't want them. It was someone else who posted the original question. A tube with handles is the proper way to go about producing illegal power! That is, if someone were so inclined. Ha

I just thought a pair of 3-500Zs, properly used, even at full legal output, could also deliver a lifetime of service. My L-4B's 3-500s have been delivering since 1965....in recent years, even in Cont

Indeed, my HENRY 2K serial number ONE has the original 3-400Z tubes in it from 1963 and still puts out about 1200 watts (about what it did new). Many HENRY 3K or 3K-A (pair 3-500Z) owners routinely g
