it of address Interesting, Colin! What's happening isn't a sudden discharge from the sky to the antenna, but rather a slow buildup of charge that occurs when the antenna terminals are open I've alwa

All antennas should be DC shorted to ground at the receiver input because of another reason: a sometimes much lower level of receiving back-ground noise. de Hans -- -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesti

Hi Carl: Interesting thought. Probably should not discuss receivers on the Amps Reflector - but it is simply the continuation of an amp related topic. It makes sense to put the rf choke at the output

of noise. You're right, and I think if you look at the antenna protectors sold by ICE or Polyphaser you'll see a choke to ground on the receiver side. The antenna side I think has a gas discharge tu

Hi Colin: In the TL-922 amplifier the rf choke is placed on the input side of the changeover relay. A gas discharge tube is connected between the amplifier RF output and the input side of the relay.

Agreed. 2.5mH chokes have many resonances in the HF range. I use a 300k-ohm resistor to bleed off any static charge across my Hertz antenna's tuner. . A choke across the load-C is probably not all t

I am a radio ham and for me it is much more important to have a quite ham band then receiving bc stations. Although most transceivers have less sensitivity on the bc bands, signals are very strong an
