In zero grid current amplifiers that do not exist, there are zero tube types. Rich-- R. L. Measures, 805-386-3734, AG6K -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/ampfaq.html Submissions: amps@contest

Tom, I think that the confusion on 'maximum plate current at zero grid volts' occurs because the statement should say ' maximum plate current in the RF cycle flows at at zero grid volts.' The RCA Tub

How could there be any confusion? - The grid operates exclusively in the negative region in Class AB1. - Maximum peak anode current occurs when the grid moves in a positive direction and reaches 0v.

To: <amps@contesting.com> No Peter, that still is not correct. Minimum grid voltage is just that, minimum grid voltage. No where does it say it has to be zero volts, and no where does it say the pla

That's right Bill, perhaps it would be clearer to say the least negative? Some tubes can have the grids driven positive without measurable grid current. I tried to explain that difference earlier. T

To: <amps@contesting.com> Not so in the Rauchian World, Peter. I somewhat agree. Minimum grid voltage is not the peak negative value. Minimum grid voltage is zero. However maximum anode current occu

A representative tube type would seem to be appropriate to illustrate the point. With a grid to cathode voltage of 67v, an 8877's grid current is about 600mA. (Eimac Curve #4250) Rich-- R. L. Measur
