Because the H has 4 tubes and the non H has only 3. And the power supply is smaller. 73 Jim W7RY _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.con

Thanks Bob and all those who responded to my queries. I now have a better understanding of the AL-811 vs. AL811H amplifier capabilities when retubed with three 572B tubes. To be sure, I'm not looking

Joe, Just looked at the parts list for the AL-811 and AL-811H. The power supply transformer, T1, is listed for both versions of the amp as part #406-1532. So it's the same transformer. Which brings m

I can do almost that with 2 new tubes, 2400V, and 100W drive in a SB-200. Of course its pushing them and the PS very hard and its 6M and only done for a brief test. Multiband amps waste a lot of powe

Brian, Yes indeed; it appears to be the same power supply transformer in both the AL-811 and the AL-811H. The conclusion I'm coming to is, IF you can run 800 watts PEP output from an AL-811H using 3

Martin I own an AL-811 with three 572B's and get 800 watts out PEP easily on SSB but run it at 400 watts PEP. I own an AL-811H with four 572B's and get 900 watts out PEP easily on SSB but run it at 6

If you run 572Bs at say 1600 volts on the plates rather than 2400 as in the spec I would expect about 20% decrease in output and gain. Even going by the specs 3 572Bs would produce 900 watts output w

A well tweaked Clipperton L will do 1200W at 100W drive. The manual specifies maximum drive at 150W and it will do 1500W out but the bandswitch is already stressed so I dont recommend it. At 2400V th

Thanks for the additional info, Bill. As I said, I run a trio of 572Bs in my AL-811 at a maximum of 600 watts PEP output, mas o menos, with no reports of distortion or splatter. Was just curious abou
