This is a quiz! New amp using 3CX3000A7. No band switch, new plate blocking cap (.0019uf/15KV). Tube fil turned off. When I adjust the HV to more than 4-4.5 KV it eats the glitch resistor. (10 ohm) W

Dennis, Remove anode connector from tube, run test again. This will help localize where the problem is. If it is before the tube you will still blow the glitch resistor. Art KB7WW

The glitch resistor is 10 ohm at 20w.. The transmitter puts out 1500w with ease on 75 meters as long as I don't bring the plate volts above 4-4.5 KV. As I said earlier, it didn't blow with 22k 20 w r

The glitch resistor needs to be adjusted in ohms (20-50) and wattage (50-100) until it will not selfdestruct while the CB's or fuses in the primary of your plate transformer are shutting things down

As it turns out, the "HV" relay shorts between the mounting stud and the coil wiring. The vacuum must be gone. anybody know where I can get a "good" relay?? Dennis W7JX
