I gave Tarn-X a try, looks like it might work if I had a few days to do it. Dipping the tube is not a good idea, I'd need a gallon of the stuff. A couple of suggestions seem to be not available here,

Tarn-X is good.  Alcohol will remove any lettering very fast. Bob  W6VY   Tarn-X is available in some drugstores, hardware stores and big box stores, find it in a black bottle with a white silk scree

Goddard's Silver Dip is the same as Tarn-X and is available at most supermarkets. Both products, when applied with a cotton swab ("Q-Tip"), do an excellent job on rotary switch contacts.   Glen, K9ST
