Hello, I have a Henry 3K Classic (8877) which developed a problem a couple days ago. I'm hoping some long time Henry types (or anyone else) might steer me in the right direction. First, there was an

Brian, That is almost always a short from the negative rail of the HV to ground at the filter capacitor side of the metering circuit. What that will do is place the grid meter in parallel with the p

Great suggestion Tom! There is a diode on that leg I do suspect. I'll remove one leg of it and check it out today. Thanks & 73, Brian -- "There is nothing more uncommon than common sense." -- Frank L

Brian, I don't have a 3K Classic here or a manual for it, however I do have 3006, 3002 and 3004 which look like the same PS. When your B+ took the shot to ground it will instantaneously try to BRING

Just took D105 and C105 out of the circuit and removed C105 off of D105. D105 is shorted both ways, so I'm going to go ahead and replace it and C105 before I go any further. Maybe this will be the si

This diode is meant to handle the current surge, not be destroyed by it. Many older amps use "1-amp" diodes like the 1N4001-4007 series, which don't have a high enough surge current rating. The repla

I can't believe how cheap 25 or 35A bridges are. Use the two ac terminals and you get two diodes in series back to back, with a rating that will laugh at any glitch current. Steve ___________________

The fault current only goes one direction. The negative rail can only elevate more and more negative if the HV faults. I never protect meters or rails for the other direction because I never turn my

Yes, two of the diodes don't have a function in this arrangement but I can't see that they do any harm either. I think it's a component where overkill is good and a bridge is a cheap way of getting a
