High-temp as in 200 deg C? That's what most polyamide magnet wires like Thermaleze are rated for. Enamel-coated is rated lower, like anywhere from 120C to 200C depending on the type. I've bought mag

If I remember right, Thermaleze is not considered high temp wire. It is made so that it can be stripped with just the heat of a soldering iron. Real hi temp wire has enamel that will not melt at sold

I believe Bill is correct. However, since K3LR's intended use is to repair a bad monoband 40m plate choke, the temperature specifications of the wire are not important. I'm sure Bill would agree with

Jim, lab supply, and ran 5 Amps CCS through it for 1 hr, stone cold. 22 gauge was used on a buddys 3x6 amp, all bands. AWG#22 is good for roughly one ampere in tight windings inside large transformer
