I just finished me Drake power supply. I used a Drake transformer and a doubler board with 8 caps. I have 2600 volts showing on the high voltage meter. I have eliminated all the bias circuit in the p

Yes you should add bias. I added 11 diodes in the center tap of the filament trany. So that would be about 7 volts. - Paul .At 12:52 PM 12/24/2014, you wrote: I just finished me Drake power supply. I

Mike, it's hard to answer your question without knowing a few more details. Do you operate much CW, or mostly SSB? Also, have you thought about modifying the RF deck to use electronic T/R switching,

According to the 3-500z data sheet, this should be fine. The 200 ma seems a little low, but I guess it depends on the tubes. You should make sure that you can get rid of the heat. Vic K2VCO /4X6GP __

11 diodes (7 volts) is way too much bias voltage. Better to have about 3 diodes (1N5408). That is what I have found while designing my QSK circuit board for the Drake. The L4 and L4B was designed wit

If you are planning to use it as an AM linear at times running about 7-8V bias will be more efficient and not hurt SSB IMD. Ive been using my LK-500ZC that way for years and confirmed on a spectrum a

A 3-500 amp does not need bias unless it is run at 3000 volts or above. 200 mills of idling current is normal for this amp I just finished me Drake power supply. I used a Drake transformer and a doub
